Guardiola reveals what it feels like to become 1st manager to win 4 consecutive EFL Cup titles

Spanish-born manager Pep Guardiola made history over the weekend after guiding Manchester City to their eighth EFL Cup triumph at Wembley Stadium.

The Etihad Stadium side defeated Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 courtesy of Aymeric Laporte's 82nd-minute lone strike.

Guardiola has now joined, Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho and Brian Clough as the only managers to have won the title four times.

However, he is the only coach to achieve the feat in four consecutive seasons after first winning it in the 2017-18 campaign.

After the victory, City are now joint top winners with Liverpool as they have both won the title eight times - three more than Man United, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

After winning his fourth straight EFL Cup last weekend, Guardiola told the media and was quoted by SunSport, saying:

“To win this cup four times in a row is amazing in this period in lockdown with everyone suffering. It was more than well deserved and it was good for us to share it with our people.

“There was some good noise inside the stadium and we did it for them. We went out to play at an incredible level, with incredible quality.”

City are also close to winning their third Premier League trophy in four years while their Champions League semifinal games are against PSG.
