Jubilation in Nigeria as NFF president Amaju Pinnick makes history, lands mighty position at FIFA

- Amaju Pinnick has been elected into the Executive Council of the FIFA

- The 50-year-old emerged winner on Friday, March 12, at an election in Morocco

- Pinnick has been the president of the Nigerian Football Federation since 2014

Amaju Pinnick who is the president of the Nigerian Football Federation has been elected into the FIFA Executive Council which is an incredible record for the 50-year-old.

The FIFA Executive Council is the highest decision making body at the arm of the World Football governing body.

Pinnick defeated his only opposition who is Walter Nyamilandu of Malawi by 43 votes to 8 at the Congress held inside the Royal Ballroom in Morocco.

Four of Pinnick’s five rivals, Lamin Kaba Bajo (The Gambia), Wallace Karia (Tanzania), Nick Mwendwa (Kenya) and Andrew Kamanga (Zambia) threw in the towel before the vote and opted to back the Nigerian.

The NFF president will now be expected to bring great development to football in Africa and in Nigeria.

Pinnick before the election was held make it clear that he would do his best to make sure that there are absolute football development on the continent of Africa.

He started his career as the chair of the Delta Sports Commission in 2010. Subsequently, he was appointed chair of Delta State Football Association in 2011.
