Nigerians ‘attack’ local football club after claiming older looking goalkeeper was born in 1995

- Fans have taken to social media to lambast the club alleging Rotduwe is well older

Nigerians have taken to social media to troll Mighty Jets football club of Jos over the age of their goalkeeper Gobum Rotduwe.

The Jos based football club had taken to their official Twitter handle to unveil their new kits ahead of the start of the Nigerian National League season.

Some of the posts also come with the profile of players who were used as models for the new kits, but eagle-eyed fans spotted the Rotduwe’s age.

According to the club, the goalkeeper was born on September 13, 1995 to mean he is 25 years old at the moment, but fans have taken a swipe on the club saying he is much older.

A fan replied: “Bro look at his face, see lil Gray hairs everywhere, bro this guy is nothing less than 48 years old.”

Another added: “If you want to know this man's real age start a blind argument about USA 94, this man born in 95 will use his mouth and tell you where he watched Mexico 86.”

A third said: “Admin, I'm sure it's 1975 you wanted to put there, this one and Zidane are age mates o! Don't activate the release clause of thunder.”

Age discrepancies have been a major bone of contention in African football lately, with many footballers claiming they are far younger than their real age.

Recall that former Senegalese international Guirane N'Daw admitted that he had to reduce his age in a bid to play professional football in Europe.

The former Saint-Etienne defensive midfielder claimed that about 99 percent of footballers in his home country have reduced their age before registering for football professional career.

The ex-Birmingham of England and Real Zaragoza of Spain player also played spent six years at Ligue 2 club Sochaus after joining them in 2002 before he moved to Nantes.

N'Daw spent the majority of his career in France with some well-known teams.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that 10 Benin youth players from the Under-17 squad and former Benin Football Federation (FBF) president Anjorin Moucharafou were given prison sentences for age cheating.

The team was disqualified from regional qualifiers for the 2019 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament back in September, in Niamey, Niger.

The players were given six-month prison sentences with five months suspended because they have been in prison since coming back from Niger in September.
