Ozil was left with no choice but to leave the Emirates after a tumultuous spell in his latter months with the Gunner.

The difficult period saw the midfielder fall out of favour under Mikel Arteta who axed him from his side's squad for the Premier League and Europa.

With no sign in sight of ever playing for the north London side, Ozil was forced to complete a move to Fenerbahce on a free transfer.

Despite the difficult period he had to contend with months to his departure, the former Real Madrid star has declared his affection for Arsenal, insisting he will be a "Gunner for life."

In a detailed open letter shared on his social media channels, Ozil said he will always support the north London outfit, a place he "called home" as an adult.

"I've grown up as an adult in North London, a place I can always call home. I'll never forget that," the attacking midfielder said.
"It's difficult for me to put into words the love I feel for this club and the fans. How could I possibly describe eight years of gratitude in a single letter? Whilst I may be no longer playing for the club, I will continue to support them in every game they play. I will be a Gunner for life - no doubt about that," he continued.

Ozil signed for Arsenal in 2013 under then manager Arsene Wenger and went in to make more than 250 appearances for the side.

During his stint, he scored 33 Premier League goals and bagged 54 assists, and won three FA Cup titles.

The 32-year-old will be hoping to make his Fenerbahce debut on Monday, January 25, against Kayserispor as he looks to resuscitate his career.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how defending champions Arsenal are out of this season's FA Cup having lost to hard-fighting Southampton in the fourth round of the competition on Saturday afternoon, January 23.

An own goal in the 24th minute by Gabriel was enough to hand the Saints victory, in a tie many have tipped the Gunners to win.

The Saints' press discombobulates the Arsenal defence as the ball’s shuttled out to the right, with Walker-Peters entering the box and firing a shot through Cedric’s legs.
