Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof performed a heroic act after stopping a thief from dispossessing a 90-year-old woman of her bag.
The 26-year-old after spotting the bandit robbing woman, chase after him and recover the stolen item.
According to sources in Sweden, the authorities have now sentenced the thief to prison as part of the punishment for his illegal activities.
The incident which occurred in August 2020 was witnessed by several people including the Red Devils centre-back and his wife Maja.
Lindelof didn't waste any time as he handed the man over to the police and has now been sentenced for the incident and ordered to pay damages to the victim as reported by the Daily Star.
The publication quoting Swedish outlet Sportbladet claims Vastmanland District Court has ordered the thief to pay £440 in damages and placed him on probation. They quote Kerstin, 90, as saying of Lindelof:
"Victor ran after the cyclist. Then came a couple of police cars. A moment later, Victor returned with a person whom the others said was the robber. He was incredible. He ran over footbridges and walls. It seemed that he had fantastic strength and form."
The Man United star while reflecting on the matter said everything happened within a twinkle of an eye.
“Everything went very fast. I did not think much. I just wanted to help my aunt get her bag back and what she had in it. It was nothing more than that, I just wanted to help. I have not had any contact with her, unfortunately.

Lindelof has scored once in 14 Premier League appearances this campaign as they currently sit at the summit of the table.
