Chelsea were chasing shadows in the first half as the best chance of the half fell to who Mount hit the cross-bar.

Ivan Cavalieri scuffed a golden opportunity after a well-worked build-up play from the defence as the Blues breathe a sigh of relief.

Just before half time Antonee Robinson was sent off after delivering a two-footed challenge on Ceasar Azpilicueta.

The one-man down gave Chelsea the advantage in the second as pressed forward in the Fulham area but could not make it count in the final-third.

Christian Pulisic was just a second late at the near post to turn in a beautiful cross from Hakim Ziyech as the search for a vital goal continued.

Chelsea finally got their match-winner from Mount as the Englishman was at the right place and at the right time to shot and score in the 77th minute.

The Blues should have doubled the advantage as a last-minute gasp from Timo Werner went just wide.
