Alex Iwobi saw 83 minutes of action in Everton’s 2-1 win over his former club Arsenal at the Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, December 19.

The Super Eagles attacking midfielder left Premier League club Arsenal in 2019 after spending five season with the Emirates’ based club where he scored 11 goals in 100 appearances.

He was made to face his former side and the 24-year-old was instrumental in the fixture which further compounded the woes of his former side.

Arsenal's struggles deepen in the Premier League following their loss to the Toffees and the defeat means the North Londoners have suffered four losses in their last five top-flight games while they sit just five points above the relegation zone.

Rob Holding conceded an own goal in the 22nd minute, while Nicolas Pepe equalised for the visitors in the 35th minute.

Yeri Mina nodded home the winning goal on the dot of half-time, and after the game, Iwobi took to social media to express delight in reuniting with his former team-mates. He wrote:

"Nice to see old team-mates. We moveee."

The impressive Iwobi who has continued to improve under Carlo Ancelotti has now made 13 league appearances for Everton this season.

According to Sky Sports, the player also thanked Arsenal football club for making him what he is today.

"I wouldn't be where I am today, so I'm forever grateful for the opportunity they gave me.
"When I was breaking through, Arteta was still there and he was always helping - not just me, but any youngster - he made life easier when I was pushing through."

Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil was not happy with the way things have been going at the Emirates despite being frozen out of Arsenal's squad by Mikel Arteta.

The German midfielder posted a broken heart and a crying face emoji on his official Twitter handle following the defeat at Goodison Park.

The 31-year-old is yet to play a match for the Gunners this season as he was left out of their Premier League and Europa League campaigns until January.

However, Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal's position on the Premier League table has given former Gunners midfielder Ray Parlour a cause for concern.

The former England international claims the north London club could surprisingly get relegated just as Leicester City caught everyone unawares by winning the league during the 2015-16 season.

The Foxes were given a slim chance of 5,000/1 by the bookies but against the odds, Claudio Ranieri made history as he landed the prestigious trophy at the King Power Stadium.
