Manchester United got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start following their 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc Des Princes on Tuesday, October 20.

The Red Devils were making a return to the French capital for the first time since stunning PSG in dramatic fashion back in March 2019 to reach the quarter-finals of the European competition.

Thomas Tuchel's men were therefore keen to earn perfect revenge over their Premier League counterpart who came into the match without three key players.

Harry Maguire, Edinson Cavani, and Mason Greenwood all missed the trip to France, with Bruno Fernandes getting the armband in the absence.

The Red Devils had a breezy start in the early exchanges, with Marcus Rashford going close inside three minutes before his effort was intercepted by Kimpembe.

Undeterred, United kept pressing on, with their efforts paying off after Anthony Martial won his side a penalty after he was fouled in the 20th minute.

Rashford had a chance to double make it 2-0 minutes into the break after he got the better of Diallo but fluffed the chance.

The second half of the match saw Martial help PSG restore parity, with the Frenchman heading the ball into his own net in the 50th minute from Neymar's corner.

The match looked set to end in a stalemate before Rashford who was wasteful earlier on put creamed a diagonal daisycutter to score the winner after he was fed by Paul Pogba three minutes to time.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men managed to hold on in the dying minutes to claim all the three points away from home.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly planning to be a part of the new FIFA initiative.

Both clubs might be thinking of joining other top European outfits for the European Premier League scheduled to kick off in 2022.

The world football governing body already has about $6 billion [£4.6 billion] fund to start up the project two years from now.
