Robinho: Brazilian star denies accusation but admits he had contact with his accuser

Robinho has denied the allegation of a female accuser as he pleads for his side of the story to be heard as regards the incident which transpired at a night club in Milan in 2013.

Recall that the Brazilian forward was sentenced to nine years imprisonment following accusation that he was part of a group that forcefully had their way with a 22-year-old Albanian woman.

The 36-year-old has denied the claims and has filed an appeal against the ruling which has continued to linger on.

He was recently released by boyhood club Santos which immediately suspended the player's contract despite signing to rejoin the team a week earlier.

In a recent interview with Brazilian outlet UOL and cited in Dailymail, Robinho claimed the contact he had with the accuser at the Sio Cafe was consensual.

He further stated that the whole scenario has now forced him to regret he cheated on his wife. He said:

"A girl approached me, we started to have contact with her consent and mine too... then I went home."

He said after he left, his friends remained with the accuser and them made do with her, but stated he cannot speak for them. He said:

"I regret cheating on my wife. This is my regret. Regarding the phrases that came out, out of context and to sell the newspaper and magazine. Obviously I changed a lot over the last seven years, this happened in 2013 and I changed for the better.

The 36-year-old, who became a free agent at the end of last season after leading Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir to a league title, returns to Santos for a fourth stint at the club.

It was gathered that Robinho will be paid a salary of only 1,500 Brazilian reals - the equivalent of just £207 (N103,000).
