Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has enjoined current gaffer of the Gunners Mikel Arteta to get German footballer Mesut Ozil involved in his team this season in all competitions.
Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal in 2013 from Spanish champions Real Madrid, and it was Arsene Wenger who was the manager then at the Emirates stadium.
A year after Mesut Ozil joined the Gunners, he went on to win the 2014 FIFA World Cup with the German senior men's national team.
However, the situation has changed for Mesut Ozil since Arsene Wenger left the Gunners two years ago as the German is now struggling to get active playing time.
Ozil has not played any game for Arsenal this season as Mikel Arteta has refused to take a look at him for selection after four games played so far in the Premier League.
While speaking with BBC on Mesut Ozil's situation at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger reminded the Gunners coaching crew not to forget that the German is a World Cup winner. He said:
''I feel it is a waste for him. Firstly because he's in the years where a player of his talent can produce the most.
''The way football is going at the moment it's quick counter-pressing, quick transitions and everybody plays the same. It's kicked out players like Ozil. Although let's not forget who this guy is. A world champion who has played at Real Madrid.''
Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently occupying fourth position on the Premier League table with nine points after four games.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Mesut Ozil rejected a £5million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr as he looks to see out the remainder of his contract at the Emirates.
The German midfielder who currently earns £350,000-per-week with the Gunners has not played a match since the first week of March.
According to reports, a two-year contract was put on the table for the World Cup winner from the Arabian club which he snubbed.
However, it is understood the 31-year-old is not ready to leave the north London club despite being frozen out by Mikel Arteta.
Reports claim Ozil does not want a move to the Middle East but would rather play in the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States.
Arsenal are believed to want to re-open talks with the controversial midfielder regarding his £350,000-per-week contract in January.
