Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly shifted their focus to landing Crystal Palace forward, Christian Benteke before the transfer window closes.

The North Londoners confirmed that their influential winger, Son Heung-min picked up a hamstring injury in their 1-1 draw against Newcastle United last weekend.

This has now reduced Jose Mourinho's options upfront with a pile of matches to be played across competitions this campaign.

Mourinho is also concerned with Harry Kane's fitness having already made five appearances - scoring three goals in the process.

They will wrap up the week's activities with a trip to Old Trafford for their Premier League matchday four fixture against Manchester United.

Daily Star quoting Football Insider reports that the Portuguese-born tactician has sanctioned the move for the Belgian following their failure to land some other targets.

Benteke joined Palace from Liverpool in 2016 and has scored 23 goals and 10 assists in 116 matches in all competitions for The Eagles.

His current deal with the Selhurst Park Stadium outfit expires next summer but the attacker could exit the club before that happens with Mourinho saying earlier this month that he needs a striker.

"I want, I need a striker. But I want to make it very, very clear that the club – the structure above me – knows that I need a striker and also wants a striker.

"Are we going to get one? I honestly believe so. For the balance of the squad, the team needs it.”

Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson believes signing another player does not automatically mean one old player must leave.

“I don’t think bringing a new player into the club as a centre-forward should mean it is definitely the end of the road for another player."

The 29-year-old came off the bench in the defeat to Everton on Saturday having played no part in the victories over both Southampton and Manchester United. earlier reported that Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Son Heung-min will be out of action for a while.

The South Korean star came off for Steven Bergwijn at the start of the second half of his side's 1-1 draw against Newcastle United.

And the 57-year-old tactician has confirmed that that the winger picked up a hamstring injury and will miss crucial games against Chelsea and Manchester United this week.
