Mohamed Atwi: Lebanese midfielder dies after being hit by stray bullet

Mohamed Atwi has died at the age of 32 after he was hit by stray bullet into his head on August 21 while walking in southern Beirut, Lebanon.
The fatal incident occurred during the funeral of a firefighter killed in the Beirut port explosion.
It was gathered that firing automatic gunshots into the air at funerals and weddings is a common practice in the Middle East, however it could result into fatalities.
And Atwi became a victim of that tradition while he was strolling when bullet hit him in the head and then lodged into his skull.
However successful operation was carried out on him as the bleeding was eventually stemmed, but the he died following the injury.
Reports say it was during the funeral of Joe Bou Saab a fire fighter who was among the victims of the famous Beirut blast where over 200 people lost their lives.
Atwi, who won three international caps, played for Lebanese side Akhaa Ahli Aley, who honoured the midfielder online.
And this is coming barely two weeks that former Premier League star Jermaine Johnson was shot in the abdomen in his home country Jamaica.

After playing for the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Bradford City and Sheffield Wednesday in the English topflight, Johnson decided to make a return to his home country.
At the age of 40, Jermaine Johnson's intention is to use his name to lift his country's League high so as to attract other big players.

Jermaine Johnson was said to have been discussing openly with two other individuals before a car drove up to them and the people inside opened fire.
According to the report on UK Mirror, Jermaine Johnson's condition is said to be so serious but he is getting the best medical attention in the hospital.
The report added that the heartbreaking incident is related to the ongoing gang feud in Jamaica in which many have been reportedly killed.
Legit.ng earlier reported that tragedy occurred in the wee hours of Monday, July 13, as Christopher, the younger brother of Tottenham star Serge Aurier, was shot dead in France.
The 26-year-old suffered the shot just outside a nightclub in Toulouse, France at around 5am on Monday.
French outlet Europe1 had reported that an individual was shot in the abdomen and that police have cordoned off the area where the incident happened, as investigations have commenced.
