Arsenal appear to have beat Man United to the signing of Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes.
Magalhaes emerged as a major summer transfer target for a number of European clubs including Napoli after establishing himself as a formidable defender at Lille.
Daily Mail now reports Arsenal have won the race to land the Brazilian defender ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Magalhaes formed an important part of Lille's squad last summer, featuring in 23 domestic matches for the Ligue 1 side to help them to a fourth-place finish before the French league was cancelled over the coronavirus pandemic.

The Gunners are understood to be keen to add more signings within their ranks as they seek to challenge for titles next season.
A defender was understood to be on the club's transfer wishlist after they shipped in 48 goals.
The imminent arrival of Magalhaes is therefore expected to add more steel and freshness to the north London side's defence.
The 22-year-old will be Arsenal's second signing of the season after Willian completed a switch to the Emirates.
Willian signed for FA Cup winners at the end of the just-concluded season on a free transfer from Chelsea.

It was earlier gathered that the 21-year-old was already shopping for an apartment in Naples after he completed a record €50 million (about N23 billion) switch from French club Lille to the Italian side.
The former youth international made an impressive mark in France in his debut season, scoring 18 goals and six assists across competitions for Lille.
