Bundesliga standings: Bayern Munich go 10 points clear as Dortmund sit 2nd

- Bayern Munich are poised to lift their eighth straight Bundesliga title as they sit top of the standings with 67 points

- Borussia Dortmund are trailing the Bavarians by 10 points but could narrow the gap by three points when they play Paderborn

- Fortuna Dusseldorf, Werder Bremen and Paderborn are occupying the three relegation slots

Bayern Munich look on course to winning the Bundesliga title after they opened a 10-point lead atop the charts following their 5-0 drubbing of relegation-threatened Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Benjamin Pavard continued his fine form to score Bayern's second goal, before Robert Lewandowski's brace and Alphonso Davies' goal sealing a huge win for the Bavarians.

With just five games left to be played, Bayern stand in a pole position to lift their eighth straight league title.

However, they will not sit pretty with second-placed Borussia Dortmund standing a chance to trim the gap to seven points when they take on Paderborn later on Sunday, May 31.

Bayer Leverkusen sit third on the charts with 56 points, just one behind Dortmund following their 4-1 defeat to Wolfsburg.

Leverkusen, however, face the possibility of dropping to fourth should RB Leipzig secure a win or a draw when they take on FC Koln.

Borussia Monchengladbach remain on course to seal a Champions League place despite sitting fifth on the standings with 53 points.

Fortuna Dusseldorf, Werder Bremen and Paderborn face a race against time to fight for survival as they occupy the three relegation slots.

Recall that there was controversy on Tuesday, May 26 during the Der Klassiker after Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng appeared to have deliberately blocked Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund’s goal-bound shot.

Fans have cried out as video review was controversially not called upon despite the ball striking Boateng's arm inside the box.

Boateng appeared to have dived to deflect Halaand’s shot wide with his hand as the ball went for a corner, but VAR was not consulted despite calls.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski is one of the hottest strikers this season with an astounding 41 goals and five assists in 35 appearances across competitions.

Lewandowski who is gunning for the European golden show this campaign has a deal with his German League side until the summer of 2023.

However, the Polish forward does not only have eyes for scoring goals, he also knows how to poach adorable properties.

The 31-year-old former Borussia Dortmund attacker splashed a whopping £7 million on an apartment with a golf simulator in his home country.
