Adrian San Miguel, Liverpool goalkeeper, has chosen former Super Eagles winger Finidi George as the best Nigerian player he has ever seen, snubbing Austin Jay Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper revealed this via is verified Twitter handle where he also ignored Diego Maradona to pick Lionel Messi as the best Argentine player he has ever seen.

He further sidelined Pele and chose Ronaldo de Lima as the best to come from Brazil while for England he chose Steven Gerrard and then Andrés Iniesta for Spain.

According to him, legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is his best from Italy while Oliver Khan was picked for Germany.

For France he chose Zinedine Zidane while Eden hazard is his best from Belgium.

Finidi George nicknamed ‘the Gazelle’ represented Nigeria between 1991 and 2002 when he made 62 appearances scoring six goals.

He featured for Nigeria at four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments including winning it in 1994 and was also part of the Nigerian team at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups.

He featured for top European clubs including Ajax, Betis, Mallorca, Ipswich Town and Mallorca scoring 77 career club goals in the process.

He won the UEFA Champions League in 1995 with Ajax. He also went on to win the Dutch league, UEFA Super Cup and the now defunct Intercontinental Cup.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles legend Finidi George is one of the very few Nigerian stars to have won the UEFA Champions League title in the history of the competition.

Kanu Nwankwo and John Obi Mikel are the remaining names that come to mind when talking about the continental championship.

The retired winger won the European title while playing for Dutch League outfit Ajax Amsterdam in 1995 after beating AC Milan with Patrick Kluivert scoring the only goal of the match.

However, the former Nigerian star may not have scored in the final, his contributions in their semifinal clash against Bayern Munich was something everyone at the club would never forget.

Finidi powered home a thunderous shot that went straight to the roof of the net as Ajax cruised to a 5-2 win in the second leg of their last four stage fixture.

Though the ex-Eagles star spent just three seasons at the club, his impact was felt for a long time and his picture remains on the wall of fame at the Johan Cryuff's Arena.
