Leon Balogun joined Championship side Wigan Athletic on loan after spending two frustrating seasons with Premier League side Brighton.
The Super Eagles defender has been struggling for game time since his summer move from Bundesliga side Mainz in 2018.
Balogun who managed to make only 12 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls has now joined Wigan to revive his career.
The 31-year-old's only goal for the club was in a league game against Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium as Brighton defeated the London club by 2-0.
Wigan who are currently languishing in 22nd position on the Championship log pulled a surprise 1-0 victory over league leaders Leeds United on Saturday, 1 February, 2020.
Balogun was not listed for the match but the Latics continued their brave challenge for survival in the English second division.
He received his first call up into the Super Eagles squad in a warm up game against Mexico in 2014 as replacement for Joseph Yobo.
Balogun went on to fly Nigeria's flag at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and played all 90 minutes in the group games against Croatia, Iceland and Argentina.
The German born Nigeria also featured for Nigerian team at the 2019 Nations Cup and made 4 appearances in the competition where the Super Eagles finished as bronze medallists.
