Manchester United vs Norwich: Rashford bags brace as Reds beat Farke's men 4-0

- A brace from Rashford and goals from Martial and Greenwood were enough to see off Norwich

- It was Manchester United’s first win of 2020 in all competitions

- The Red Devils remain fifth in the standings, five points adrift of Chelsea in fourth.

Manchester United bounced back from a disappointing two weeks to record their first win in the new year after thrashing struggling Norwich City at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils top scorer Marcus Rashford bagged a brace in his 200th appearance for the club as a header from Anthony Martial and a sublime strike from teenager Mason Greenwood condemned last season’s Championship winners to another worrying defeat.

From the start of the game, there was only one team in it as United tried to exert their authority in the game in the first half.

Solskjaer made a handful of changes, with a contentious move seeing teenager Brandon Williams come in place of Ashley Young, who is reportedly looking at a move away from Old Trafford.

United’s pressure paid off in the 27th minute when Rashford latched on a brilliant Juan Mata cross at the back post to open the scoring.

The home side kept the pressure after the break and it soon paid off as Williams was brought down in the box by goalkeeper Tim Krul, with Rashford slotting home the resulting penalty in the 52nd minute.

Two minutes later and it was three-nil as United punished Norwich further from a quick corner which Anthony Martial met with a header for his sixth goal of the season.

Teenager Mason Greenwood wrapped up a comfortable night for Solskjaer with an impressive low shot which found the bottom corner to put the game completely out of their opponents’ reach.

The win takes ensured United maintained fifth place in the table as they had been temporarily replaced by Sheffield United, who beat Westham on Friday, January 10.

United remain five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea who also comprehensively beat struggling Burnley 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
