Real Madrid have confirmed that Brazil superstar Marcelo will not take part in their Champions League opening fixture against Paris Saint Germain this midweek.
The 31-year-old defender was part of Los Blancos' 3-2 victory over Levante in their La Liga clash last weekend.
Meanwhile, after being diagnosed by the club medical team, the Brazilian has been ruled out for the game in Paris.
He could also miss their next Spanish League encounter against Sevilla as they did not reveal when he could possible rejoin the rest of the team.

"After the tests carried out today on our player Marcelo by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a post-traumatic cervicodorsal injury," the statement read.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail report that the Galacticos are planning to replace Marcelo with Ferland Mendy as they hope to get their campaign off to a bright start.
Apart from the 31-year-old, Isco, Luka Modric, Marco Asensio and Fede Valverde have also been ruled out of the game while the duo of Sergio Ramos and Nacho Fernandez set to miss the clash due to suspension.
Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane will however be hoping his players will put up a better performance in France.
Last season, Real Madrid were ousted by Ajax in the round of 16, having won the European title for the 13th time the previous edition.
