Man United, Arsenal battle for red hot Ajax's rising star David Neres

Manchester United and Arsenal are set to go neck-to-neck to sign Ajax star David Neres in the summer.

The Brazilian who is rated £45million has caught the eye of top European clubs following his remarkable performances in the Champions League, with goals against Real Madrid and Juventus.

Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are also reportedly interested in signing the Ajax winger.

And according to the Sun, Neres will be the subject of a transfer battle between two Premier League giants clubs in the next transfer window.

Neres joined Ajax from Sao Paulo for £13million in 2017, and has quickly become one of the important players in the starting XI.

In his debut season in the Eredivisie, Neres scored 14 goals and provided 13 assists, a tally he is almost match with eight goals and 11 assists this season.

Neres is a tricky wide player who has a keen eye for goal. He has shown himself to be adept on either flank and his creative influence.

Ajax have not won the league title since 2014, but are ahead of the defending champions PSV on goal difference, having scored 106 goals in 30 league matches.

Neres has though stepped into the international spotlight and made his debut for Brazil in their international friendly against the Czech Republic.

He was among the scorers when Ajax dumped defending champions Real Madrid out of the Champions League and also keeping their hopes alive with a stunning effort against Juventus.

Premier League side, Everton have also been linked with the youngster and Chelsea who are currently facing a transfer ban could scupper any hopes of competing for Neres.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Ajax travel to Turin to battle Juventus in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash at Allianz Stadium on Tuesday, April 16.
