A much-changed Chelsea side on Wednesday night, April 3, hammered Brighton and Hove Albion 3-0 in a tough Premier League match played at Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio Sarri made a few changes to the squad that earned a 2-1 hard-fought victory over Cardiff City at the weekend.

The Italian tactician handed Callum Hudson-Odoi the long-awaited first start in the Premier League, with Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante all making a return to the squad.

Hudson-Odoi made justification of his inclusion as the English youngster played a pivotal part in Chelsea's opener scored by Olivier Giroud in the 38th minute as the first half finished 1-0 in favour of the hosts.

In the second half Eden Hazard doubled the Blues' lead after being set up by Loftus-Cheek, whipping the ball into the far corner past Ryan who was between the sticks for Brighton.

Hazard reciprocated the favor to Loftus-Cheek three minutes later, with the Belgian playmaker setting up the Englishman who cleverly side-footed the ball into the back of the net.

The match eventually finished 3-0 in favor of the London side who moved to fifth with 63 points, two ahead of Manchester United who suffered a 2-1 embarrassing defeat to Wolves at Molineux Stadium.

Earlier, had reported how embattled Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri told the club's chiefs and fans that he will deliver title-challenging team if they give him one pre-season to sort his squad.

Maurizio Sarri is currently under fire at Stamford Bridge due to unimpressive performance this season which has led to criticism from the Blues' supporters.
