Which is more lucrative - FA Cup or the Premier League

The Premier League and FA Cup are the most famous club competitions in the world because of the pedigree they possess.

The league is the most expensive and the exciting in the world while the FA Cup brings more glamour into the game as it marries the lower division clubs and the top teams in the Premier League.

The FA Cup competition started in 1871 while the league began its inception in 1888 and both competitions have brought glamour to fans around the world.

The FA Cup in its own fashion have its uniqueness as it reflects the traditions of the English people and how they value the game from their own perspective.

The question is, which is more glamorous between the Premier League, and the FA Cup?

Firstly the price money in which a team receives in both competitions is far different form each other.

Arsenal's FA Cup triumph over Chelsea last season earned them just £4.3m and the price money is calculated from the stage the team started winning till they clinched the trophy.

On the other hand, Chelsea who won the league last term, garnered a staggering £150m and also benefited from the £8bn TV rights deal shared to all top flight clubs.

The amount is triple the £49m Real Madrid was paid for wining the Champions League and the £13m given to Manchester United for their Europa League success.

The teams that got relegated last season went home with £100 each and the price for those clubs that remained in top flight action got more.

However for the English people it will be difficult to say the Premier League is better because according to history the small teams have created upsets.

League One side Wigan Athletic knocked out Premier League champions Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup this season which is by far the biggest upset in the competition's history.

One competition can not be left for another but its popularity has brought the world's attention to where the round leather game originated from.
