Super Eagles Star Sends Urgent Message to Federal Government Following Attack on 42 Passengers in Sokoto State

Super Eagles defensive midfielder Shehu Abdullahi has called on the Federal Government to do everything within its powers to end insecurity in the north and Nigeria, Pulse Ng reports.

The Nigerian international is reacting to the killing of 42 passengers in Sokoto State by gunmen suspected to be bandits on Tuesday, December 7.

It was gathered that the attackers burnt scores of passengers traveling from Sabon Birni local government area to Sokoto town.

The incident which occurred at about 9am happened around Gidan Bawa village where the terrorists blocked the road and set the vehicle ablaze.

And Nigerians have clamoured for improved security, not just in the northern part of the country, but indeed in all regions.

Reacting to the development, Shehu Abdullahi who was born in Sokoto State, said the situation makes him cry - more because innocent people are the victims.

He wrote:

“I'm heartbroken to receive the news of the attack on 42 passengers in Sokoto State. The insecurity in the North and Nigeria is something the government should curb.
"Innocent people are the victims and this makes me cry. May Allah comfort their families. This is sad.”

Eagles captain Ahmed Musa decries Nigeria’s security situation

Meanwhile, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa also called on authorities to immediately make efforts to put an end to the continuous attacks on motorists along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway by bandits.

Bandits have continued to terrorise motorists and travelers along the major highway which leads to the Northern part of the country.

Musa has expressed sadness over the situation, saying the atrocities must be put to an end attacks so that people can go about their normal activities.

FG dispatches high-powered delegation to Sokoto, Katsina

Legit.ng earlier reported that respite may be coming to two northern states of Sokoto and Katsina state as President Muhammadu Buhari sent a powered delegation made up of the heads of Nigeria’s intelligence and security outfits to the states.

This comes on the heels of the recent spike in the spate of kidnappings and bandit activities.

Members of the delegation includes the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba; the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Magaji Bichi; the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar, Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Samuel Adebayo.
