Nigerian youngster Victor Osimhen has returned to training three weeks after suffering damage to his face, the Italian club has confirmed, Soccernet reports.
The 22-year-old was initially scheduled to be out of action until January, but he seems to have returned as he was spotted at the club’s training ground.
The striker suffered terrible injuries to his cheekbone cheekbone and orbital fracture in Napoli’s Serie A clash against Inter Milan on November 21.
He collided with defender Milan Skriniar, but the youngster has completed a successful complicated surgery and was earlier ruled out for three months.
In a clip posted by the club on their social media pages, Osimhen was spotted jogging around the pitch as he was spotted wearing a hoodie mask as protection while working with the ball.7
Boost for Nigeria
This is huge boost for the Super Eagles of Nigeria who are looking to having the striker at the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon which kicks off on January 9.
Osimhen was initially ruled out of the competition, but with his return to training, Nigeria will be hopeful on the former Lille of France striker.
He was Nigeria’s top scorer in the qualifying series and will be key to the Super Eagles chances of winning a fourth continental title.
The striker has now doubled his tally in goal wearing the national colours of Nigeria with ten strikes in 19 matches as well as five assists. However, it remains to be seen when he would be able to resume contact training.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian international Odion Ighalo has disclosed that he was pressured to return to the national team by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick.
Recall that the former Watford of England striker dumped the national colours shortly after inspiring Nigeria to the bronze medal at AFCON 2019 where he emerged highest goal scorer.
The 32-year-old however returned to the squad in the final phase of the second round qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup which comes two years after he announced his retirement.
