The Blues, who have dropped four points in two matches suffered a 3-2 shock defeat to West Ham United on Saturday, December 4, to drop to third on the log.

Despite taking the lead twice during the London derby, Thomas Tuchel's men failed to take full control of the encounter to allow the Hammers bag the three points.

The Stamford Bridge dwellers now find themselves two points behind Man City who are currently topping the charts following their 3-1 thrilling win over Watford at Vicarage Road.

Liverpool remain second on the table with 34 points having also won their own fixture against Wolves - thanks to Divock Origi's stoppage-time winner.

West Ham complete the top four podium with 27 points, two ahead of Tottenham Hostpur who still have a match to play.

Man United, meanwhile, moved to sixth momentarily after their 1-0 hard-fought win over Crystal Palace.

Brazilian midfielder Fred was United's unlikely hero as his solitary goal saw Ralf Rangnick win his first match in charge of the Red Devils.

Arsenal, who now sit seventh, will therefore need to pick a favourable result when they travel to Everton to take on the struggling Toffees on Monday, December 6.

On the other end of the table, Newcastle finally tasted their first win of the season after seeing off Burnley at St. James Park.

Callum Wilson netted the decisive goal of the clash as the Magpies earned the three points to move to 19th.

Norwich City are now bottom of the log after Spurs hammered them 3-0 away at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Burnley complete the three relegation slots, with Watford, under the tutelage of Claudio Ranieri three points from safety.

Ralf's dream start

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Ralf Rangnick had a dream start to life as the new Man United boss after the Red Devils secured a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, December 5, at Old Trafford.

Brazilian midfielder was the unlikely match hero as his solitary goal in the second half inspired the hosts to a vital win.

Despite their dominance in the early exchanges of the encounter, United were unable to create enough clear-cut goalscoring opportunities.
