Mohamed Salah has finally explained the rationale behind his departure at Premier League giants Chelsea in 2016 claiming that Jose Mourinho's interference forced him to walk away.

The Egypt international moved to Stamford Bridge from Basel in 2014 and there were high expectation from him by fans to shine in the Premier League.

However, Mohamed Salah failed to find his rhythm at Chelsea and was only to play 19 games for the Blues in all competitions before being loaned out to Fiorentina.

Did Mohamed Salah shine after leaving Chelsea?

At Italian side Fiorentina, Mohamed Salah only played 16 games netting six goals before being sold by Chelsea to Roma.

It was in Rome that Mohamed Salah found his good form netting 15 goals which caught the attention of those handling Liverpool and signed him.

Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Mohamed Salah has been shining at Anfield and has won the Premier League title, Golden Boot award and the Champions League.

According to the report on Mirror and Football London, Mohamed Salah explained that things were no longer going smoothly for him at Chelsea which made him to leave.

“When I was at Chelsea, I had to change the type of football and culture, and I felt that I needed to change my way of playing.
“So, I went to Italy and played well: that period was a great help to get to where I am now.”

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Mohamed Salah of Liverpool was named the winner for the 2021 Golden Foot trophy beating Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski.

So far this season in the Premier League, the Egypt international has been in sparkling form for Liverpool and has also netted 17 goals with seven assists in 18 games.

Salah has really won the hearts of all Liverpool fans with his incredible styles of netting goals as the former Chelsea man is the first ever Liverpool player to score in 10 consecutive games.

Lionel Messi was on Monday night named the winner for the 2021 Ballon d'Or award, but Mohamed Salah finished as seventh best behind Ronaldo who ended on sixth position.
