Jurgen Klopp who is the manager of Premier League giants Liverpool has been slammed by former England international John Fashanu over the statement he made on the African Cup of Nations.

The African Cup of Nations is around the corner and all players concerned are expected to leave their clubs and represent their countries in the biggest football tournament on black's continent.

Liverpool are expected to miss the services of the Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane when the African Cup of Nations gets underway in January bext year in Cameroon.

Speaking after his side's impressive win against Arsenal in the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp described the African Cup of Nations as a little tournament coming up next year.

John Fashanu who is of Nigerian descent and played two games for the English national team frowned at the comment made by Jurgen Klopp on AFCON according to the report on GOAL and Punch.

“This is a big slap on black players around the world. I am very disappointed that somebody who we rated as highly as we did can literarily drip that out with his silly mouth.''

Super Eagles to know World Cup playoff opponents in January as home game could be outside Nigeria

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the teams qualified for the World Cup playoffs will know their opponents on January 26.

Super Eagles of Nigeria sealed their spot in the final round of the qualifiers after seeing off Cape Verde following a 1-1 draw in Lagos, to top their group.

CAF held a general congress and reached a decision that the draws for the two-legged playoff matches will take place on January 26, 2022.

All ten group winners from the second round of the qualifiers will take on each other in a home and away tie and the five winners will emerge Africa’s representatives at the Mundial.
