United were hoping to bring to a halt their disappointing run of results during their trip to Watford but instead suffered yet another frustrating defeat.

The result meant the Red Devils have now picked up just four points from the available 21, leaving them 12 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea who they will face in their next Premier League fixture.

Despite their dire need to bounce back to winning ways, the Manchester outfit started the match terribly and found themselves trailing 2-0 at the break.

While Donny van de Beek gave them hope of a comeback after coming on in the second half, those dreams were dented by Harry Maguire who picked a red card shortly after.

Watford went on to score two more goals to condemn the Red Devils to a frustrating loss away from home.

And rather than show his disappointment, Solskjaer was seen chuckling and smiling as he explained what went wrong in his post-match interview.

The Norwegian quickly changed his tone before apologizing as he went on to defend his wards for the performance.

"Sorry for smiling there, but that’s human beings," he said as quoted by Metro UK.
"Of course, when it’s not going for you it’s going against you, and it’s hard to play with that mental break," the Norwegian went on to explain on United's poor display.

Ex-Liverpool manager begins house-hunting as Man United appointment inches closer

Earlier Legit.ng reported that Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly taken a step closer to the Man United job.

Rodgers is believed to be United's No.1 choice to succeed embattled Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Liverpool boss has reportedly begun house-hunting in Cheshire and he is looking for a family home in football's jet-set areas of Wilmslow and Alderley Edge.

However, the tactician should not expect any backing transfer-wise during the January window, with United chiefs said to be adamant the current squad is good enough to compete until next summer.

Solskjaer has received some good support since his arrival three years ago, with the Norwegian spending over £400million on new signings during the period.

Last summer, Ole brought in three high-profile players in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
