Super Falcons and Barcelona Femeni striker Asisat Oshoala has suffered a knee injury and will be out for two months.

Her club disclosed this in a statement on Friday, November 13, as the report added that the 27-year-old has a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.

Oshoala sustained the injury during Barcelona Fermini 4-0 win against Hoffenheim on Wednesday, November 10, in a UEFA Women’s Champions League game.

The statement read: “According to the Club’s Medical Services, Asisat Oshoala has a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The Nigerian striker, who was injured in the second half of Wednesday’s match against Hoffenheim, will be out for about two months,” the statement on the club’s website read.

Asisat Oshoala, who has made 12 appearances for Barcelona this season, scoring 12 goals, described her latest injury setback as a bitter pill to swallow but has promised to return even stronger.

Reacting to the development, Oshoala on her Instagram page admitted “this is not just another injury that will come and go.”
"This one hit me so hard, It’s a tough pill for me to swallow. I can’t even lie.
"Thank you for the messages, I will be back soon and even better Insha Allahu,” she added.

She is the top scorer in the league, with 11 goals in nine games played.

The Super Falcons striker became the first African woman to win the UEFA Champions League after Barcelona defeated Chelsea 4–0 in the final last season.

Asisat Oshoala scores brace against Real Sociedad

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Asisat Oshoala continued with her impressive goal-scoring form this season netting a brace for the Barcelona Female team in their 8-1 win over Real Sociedad.

This is the biggest League win for Asisat Oshoala and her teammates at Barcelona so far this season and the victory keeps them up on the table.

Puyol hails Oshoala after her goal and 2 assists against Arsenal

Meanwhile, Legit.ng also reported that Oshoala put up a breathtaking performance in Barcelona Femeni’s 4-1 win over English club Arsenal in a UEFA Women Champions’ League group game.

Barcelona legend Carles Puyol took to social media to commend the Super Falcons star for her brilliant performance saying she had a “great game”.

The Nigerian international was on fire as her rebounded shot was tucked home by Mariona Caldentey to open the scoring in the 31st minute before Alexia Putellas doubled the lead in the 42nd.

It was Asisat Oshoala’s turn to find the back of the net in the second half as she scored with just two minutes after the restart.

Frida Maanum pulled one back for Arsenal in the 74th minute, but Lieke Martens sealed the win for the Spanish club with a well-executed strike. It ended; Barcelona 4-1 Arsenal.

Puyol congratulated the team and praised Oshoala, while the 26-year-old Ikorodu-born Nigerian star replied; saying "thank you".
