The 41-year-old club legend was announced as the manager last week and he arrived Camp Nou on Monday to begin work.

It was gathered that with the club having a number of players who are injured, most of the players are unhappy with their pre-season preparations.

Spanish outlet AS are reporting that Xavi, upon arrival, told physio Juanjo Brau and physical trainer Albert Roca their services are no longer needed.

The club also suffered injury blow over the weekend after Ansu Fati limped off during their 3-3 draw with Celta Vigo.

Eric Garcia and Nico Gonzalez left that match early in a triple injury blow as the Catalan giants continue to struggle in the La Liga.

And they all join the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Gerard Pique as part of the 11-man list of stars currently on the sidelines.

Xavi was unveiled in front of 10,000 fans on Monday after replacing Ronald Koeman. But there was a rather awkward choice of music to greet his arrival at the Nou Camp.

Last week, Qatari side Al Sadd announced that Xavi had left his role as he was favourite to become the new Barcelona manager since the sacking of Ronaldo Koeman, and the only obstacle in the deal was Al Sadd, whom Xavi was contracted to for two years.

A statement said:

“The Al Saad administration has agreed on Xavi’s move to Barcelona after the payment of the release clause stipulated in the contract.
"We’ve agreed on cooperation with Barcelona in the future. Xavi is an important part of Al-Sadd’s history and we wish him success.”

Xavi earlier expressed his desire to rejoin Barcelona, a development that was confirmed by Al Sadd chief executive Turki Al-Ali.
