Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed extra happiness following his departure from the UK to join his teammates in the Portugal national team, Mirror reports.

The 36-year-old who returned to the Old Trafford last summer has been in prolific form for the Red Devils who are currently struggling in the Premier League.

Pressure continues to mount on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his side have managed just one win in their last six league games. They have also failed to win at home since September.

CR7 has lamented on the pitch, but he has joined the national team for the World Cup qualifiers against Republic of Ireland and Serbia.

Ronaldo recently became the men’s all time international goalscorer will be hoping to add to his tally during the international break.

Ronaldo posted on Instagram:

"Good morning. It's always an extra happiness when I'm back to my country!"

The international break offers an escape for Ronaldo from the frustrations of domestic duties, which hasn't gone to plan for United - who were meant to be serious title challengers.

Two of Ronaldo's match-day shirts up for auction

Meanwhile, Ronaldo will put two of his shirts up for auction in his bid to help the Royal British Legion with funds of about 49,000 pound (about N30million).

Ronaldo’s shirts in recent matches against Tottenham and Manchester City will be auctioned to help the charity that deals with providing economic and psychological support.

The shirt Ronaldo wore against Spurs when he scored a goal and made an assist in the 3-0 win should fetch not less than 36,000 pounds (over N20million).

The uniform dressed up against the Citizens, on the other hand, could bring the charity up to 13,000 pounds (about N7.5million).

How Ferguson lured Ronaldo back to Man Utd

Legit.ng earlier reported that details of how Cristiano Ronaldo dumped his move for Manchester City to return to Manchester United have emerged following a call from Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ronaldo will face Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday, but it could have been the other way round as the blue half of Manchester almost landed the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

It seems unimaginable that Ronaldo would be playing against the Red Devils, but that almost happened until Ferguson had to wade in.
