The Bayern Munich striker has been in astronomical form in recent years and is showing no signs of slowing down as he bagged a hat trick in his latest match in the Champions League against Benfica.

Lewandowski controversially missed out on the Ballon d’Or in 2020, despite bagging a staggering 55 goals as Bayern went on to win a treble.

The Polish international went on to win the FIFA Men's Best Player Award but the Ballon d’Or as scrapped owing to the COVID-19 pandemic despite the fact that Lewandowski was an overwhelming favourite.

He will however get the chance to win it again this year as he is among the favourites in the 30-man shortlist alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, a pair that have 11 of the awards between them.

Among the millions who want to see Lewandowski clinch the award is Luis Suarez Miramontes, who won the award in 1960 ahead of the legendary Ferenc Puskas.

And in the event Lewandowski does not win it, which will be considered a huge robbery by many, Suarez is willing to give the Poland international his own award.

"Give Lewandowski the Ballon d'Or, d*mn it! If not, I'll give you mine!" Suarez told Carrusel Deportivo.

Lewandowski continued his goal scoring run this year as he broke the late Gerd Muller’s record of 41 Bundesliga goals.

The 33-year old recently spoke to Marca about his prospects of winning the award, saying:

"The possibility of winning the Ballon d'Or means a lot to me, it makes me feel proud, if you look at everything I've achieved, not just this year, last year as well when they cancelled the ceremony, I've won a lot of titles, scored a lot of goals.

The 2021 Ballon d’Or winner will be announced on November 29 at a special ceremony at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.

"Lewandowski deserves it"

Both Rio Ferdinand and Peter Crouch recently admitted Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo do not deserve to win the 2021 Ballon d'Or award, claiming Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski should take it.

Ferdinand and Peter Crouch who played in the Premier League were acting as pundits on Tuesday night, November 2, where they explained that it won't be nice for Lewandowski to miss the Ballon d'Or this year.
