  • Anthony Martial was not named in the Manchester United matchday squad for their Premier League game against Tottenham
  • The Frenchman who last played against Everton seems to be out of favour under United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
  • Martial’s wife Melanie has taken to social media in support of her husband claiming he was not injured as the manager earlier claimed

Melanie, the wife of Manchester United striker Anthony Martial, has taken Ole Gunnar Sokskjaer to the cleaners for benching her husband yet again in the Premier League, Mirror reports.

The Red Devils who were thoroughly beaten 5-0 at home by Liverpool put behind their poor performance of last weekend to defeat Tottenham 3-0 on Saturday.

And yet again, Martial was not named in the matchday squad, with strikers Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford all finding the back of the net at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The last time Martial featured for the club was earlier this month when he was on the score sheet against Everton.

And since then, the Frenchman has been overlooked but the United manager earlier claimed he was on the verge of returning.

Metro reports that his wife, Melanie, claims the former Monaco man has been fit and available for selection.

She was asked by a fan of Instagram if Martial was injured and replied:

"Anthony has never been injured. He only had food poisoning two weeks ago."

Melanie also posted a picture on Saturday of the United forward on an exercise bike with a cryptic post that read:

"Never give up".

Martial has only played twice in the league with a further three appearances coming from the bench.

How Manchester United defeated Tottenham

Manchester United bounced back from an embarrassing defeat to Liverpool to record a deserved 3-0 victory over Tottenham.

United produced a better performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Ole Gunnar Gunnar Solskjaer's job was saved with the convincing win.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Edison Cavani played upfront and delivered the goods as both players made their goals count for the Red Devils.

Ronaldo was substituted for Rashford and the England striker made his inclusion count four minutes from time.

The Englishman man lost his maker from a pass from Nemanja Matic as he put the ball behind Lloris to make it 3-0.

Man Utd stars back Solskjaer

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that it appears some members of the Manchester United squad are backing manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following criticisms against the manager after their 5-0 loss to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s men ran riot at the Theatre of Dreams, walloping the hosts right in front of their fans, on a night fans of United will never forget.

Some players went as far as sending text messages in support of their manager and to the club executive-chairman Ed Woodward after their loss to Liverpool.
