Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal recently warmed hearts after he promised laptops to kids during a charity event.

Considered one of the best basketball players of his time, Shaquille not only has a big physique but a massive heart as well.

This was manifested again during the unveiling of two basketball courts in Doolittle Complex on Saturday, October 23 in West Las Vegas.

Thanks to an initial donation of N113 million ($200k) from Shaq, the renovations were made possible. O’Neal said as quoted by Sportsrush.

“It is very rewarding to me on a personal level, as I have lived in Las Vegas and know first-hand the tough times that these areas have gone through in the past."

His generosity spree did not end there, as the former Lakers star went a step further by making a generous bet.

He promised to buy every child at the event a laptop if one of the children made a free throw, which he did.

A video of the free throw shot has since made its way online and children can be seen cheering as they were en route to owning laptops courtesy of the basketball legend.

As far as improvements on the court are concerned, some of the upgrades include new surfacing, custom colours and floor graphics, shade structures, seating areas, new basketball standards, and a swanky state-of-the-art Daktronics LED scoreboard.

Shaquille was also honoured with a key to the city by the mayor as part of the ceremony. Even before retiring, Shaquille, a 4-time NBA Champion has always been committed to charitable causes.

How Shaquille paid for lucky chap's engagement

In April, a random Georgia man got the surprise of his life after Shaquille O Neal decided to pay for his engagement ring at a jewellery store.

The former NBA star was shopping for some earrings at Zales in McDonough, an Atlanta suburb, when he came across an overwhelmed customer discussing the available financing options for an engagement ring.

LeBron James increased stake in Liverpool

Legit.ng earlier reported that NBA legend, Lebron James has increased his shares in Liverpool following his decision to partner with the American ownership group Fenway.

The 36-year-old multiple award-winning basketball star held a two percent stake in the Premier League defending champions since 2011.

However, reports in the US reveal LeBron bought an undisclosed number of shares in Fenway Sports Group - the same firm that owns the baseball team Boston Red Sox.
