Italian FA to Take Decision Against Roma Fans Over Racist Chant at Super Eagles Striker

The Italian Football Association will reportedly investigate an alleged racist chant which was directed at Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during a Roma vs Napoli clash over the weekend.

The match at Stadio Olimpico ended 0-0 and Osimhen who played as a top striker for 90 minutes taunted the opposition defence throughout the duration of the encounter.

The 22-year-old Nigerian international has found the back of the net nine times in 11 appearances this season for Napoli.

Latest reports via Complete Sports claim the Italian FA are already making efforts to probe racist chants against the former Lille of France star.

The FIGC said in its statement via Guardian:

“A racially-motivated discriminatory chant was aimed at Nigeria striker Osimhen, and that its disciplinary authorities would be conducting “further investigations” to determine both how many people chanted the unspecified abuse and how long they did it for."

Roma were fined 10,000 euros ($11,611) for “territorially insulting” chants towards Napoli fans.

Bayern Munich reportedly linked with Osimhen

Meanwhile, it has been no surprise that top European clubs have been linked with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen following his goal-scoring form.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are the latest among the top clubs battling to sign the Nigerian international.

According to reports from Spanish news media outlet AS, the German champions could offer €100million for the Super Eagles forward.

The 22-year-old could be a long term replacement for Poland striker Robert Lewandowski who could be sold at the end of next summer.

Osimhen becomes Africa’s most expensive player

Legit.ng earlier reported that Victor Osimhen has been on fire since the start of the season having scored seven goals and one assist in eight appearances for Napoli so far this campaign.

His performances have now seen his value rises to the tune of about €10 million on the transfer market lately.

The 22-year-old former Lille attacker has now equalled Wilfred Ndidi's €60 million market valuation according to the latest report on Transfermarkt.
