Panic at Stamford Bridge as 2 Chelsea top stars suffer injuries during Champions League clash against Malmo

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the striking pair of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner will miss the games against Norwich City and Southampton with injury.

American winger Christian Pulisic is will also miss the clash against Norwich City as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.

In the wake of the emphatic Champions League win over Malmoe, Tuchel revealed Lukaku twisted his ankle after a tackle in the box.

For Werner, the gaffer confirmed he had a hamstring injury but the extent of damage was not specified.

Speaking during the presser in the build-up to the Norwich game, Tuchel said as per Sky Sports:

"To make the question a longer one, how is Pulisic too? They are all out tomorrow and probably the Southampton game and then we will see.
"What I can tell you for sure is they are both in treatment, positive and not worried but out of the next two games for sure."

The latest update came only days after the Chelsea boss tried to make sense of Lukaku’s goal drought.

In the build up to the game against Malmoe, Tuchel said mental tiredness could be a factor in the Belgian’s bluntness in front of goal.

Lukaku had to leave the Belgium camp early because of ‘muscle fatigue’.

Chelsea are currently top of the Premier League with six wins from their opening eight games in the 2021/22 campaign.

Bruno Fernandes a doubt for Liverpool clash

In Manchester, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has problems of his own as Bruno Fernandes is a major doubt for the clash against Liverpool.

Solskjaer, while speaking to MUTV's Stewart Gardner, confirmed a number of injury concerns for his side, including Fernandes, whom he claims has a knock.

"We've had some knocks, which you expect during games," Solskjaer said.
"Games like Wednesday will always bring knocks and bruises," Ole added. "We have two or three with knocks but I hope I can pick from a fit squad. Bruno might be a doubt but he's doing everything he can to be fit.

Two Chelsea stars pick up injuries during Malmo win

Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the pair of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner face some time on the sidelines after they hobbled off while in action against Malmo.

Lukaku, who has been in woeful form in recent weeks was hoping to find his scoring boots against the Swedish minnows during the Wednesday, October 20, Champions League cracker.

However, things did not pan out in his favour as he was forced off alongside fellow striker Werner after the two picked injuries in their 4-0 comfortable win.
