Kanu Scores Brace As Nigeria Destroy Ghana in Lagos As Fight to Qualify for AWCON Continues

Super Falcons of Nigeria are now on the verge of qualifying for the 12th Women Africa Cup of Nations holding in Cameroon after beating Ghana 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon, October 20.

The encounter played at the Mobolaji Johnson stadium in Lagos was the first leg of their two legged qualifiers with Uchenna Kanu netting the two goals for Nigeria.

Ghana came with a big target of them getting a good result against the Super Falcons knowing fully well that they will be playing the second leg at their home ground.

However, they met a more determined Nigerian side who are looking forward to compete in the next competition with the target of even bringing the cup back home.

According to the report on Cable and Brila, Uchenna Kanu explained that she was happy that her two goals gave the Super Falcons the win over Ghana in Lagos.

“I feel really great, I feel proud of the team. First of all I’m proud of the team for the performance today. I’m proud that I’m able to score thanks to my teammates that helped me on that.
“I feel really excited and we are looking forward to the next game and of course I will be doing my job scoring so expect that.''

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigerian female footballer Onome Ebi angrily slammed a fan who called her out on social media claiming that the FC Minsk defender should not be seen again in the national team.

The fan named Timothy is worried how a 3-year-old female footballer would still be playing for the Super Falcons of Nigeria despite all the youngsters in the country.

As far as female football is concerned in Nigeria, Onome Ebi is a big name and she has been playing for the Super Falcons of Nigeria since 2003 and has earned 89 caps with two goals.

And since then, the former Bayelsa Queens' captain has won the African Women's Championship four times with Nigeria which is an incredible record for Ebi.
