Tension as Gernot Rohr Drops Super Eagles First Team Player for Coming to Camp Late

Gernot Rohr has stated that Maduka Okoye will not take part in Super Eagles World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic, Brila.

The Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper who arrived camp late for Nigeria's international engagement will now pay the price as he has been reportedly dropped to the bench.

According to Vanguard, Okoye was the last member of the team to touch down in Nigeria and a a post on social media said:

“Good morning fans, we’ve got a FULL HOUSE! Maduka Okoye is here.”

The 22-year-old has cemented his first in Super Eagles starting XI since making his debut during the international friendly against Brazil in 2019.

This development will now open the opportunity for Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi to fight for a starting shirt against the Les Fauves.

Uzoho and Akpeyi have been going back and forth for the number spot until the German-born Okoye made his way into the team.

All is now set for Nigeria to execute their Group C qualifier against the Central African Republic as the 23 players are now in camp.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Super Eagles will come all out against the Central African Republic in their 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, Sport Mole, BBC.

The three-time are gradually making their Lagos home ground a fortress as they are yet to concede a goal since they started executing international matches in Sururlere.

Gernot Rohr's side have won their first two matches in Group C, following a comfortable 2-0 win over Liberia and a hard-earned 2-1victory against Cape Verde.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Victor Osimhen has been named the Serie A Player for the Month of September following his brilliant performances, Goal, AIC.

Despite being red-carded in Napoli's first game of the season against Venezia in August, Osimhen bounced back to produced eye-catching displays.

The Nigerian international scored seven goals in September with four of them coming in the Italian top-flight division.
