  • Man United and Chelsea have been heavily touted as clear favourites to win the Premier League title this season
  • Holders Man City and former champions Liverpool are also expected to mount a serious challenge for domestic glory
  • United and Chelsea are among the clubs that have spent massively this summer, with the former re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly privately feels Chelsea are the only side that can challenge Man United for the Premier League title.

Solskjaer is understood to be desperate to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford, with United yet to taste domestic glory since 2011.

And in an apparent move aimed at achieving this feat, the Norwegian embarked on bolstering his squad this summer, landing exciting signings of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

The Sun reports Ole views, Chelsea, as a more formidable opponent in the title race.

The Blues have been on an upward trajectory since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel back in January, helping the west Londoners win the Champions League last season and reaching the FA Cup final.

Chelsea laid a marker for more glory this season in the early days of the campaign when they won the UEFA Super Cup following a penalty shootout win against Villarreal.

And just like United, they too had a decent transfer window, splashing almost £100million to secure the services of Romelu Lukaku.

The side also landed the signature of Saul Niguez who joined them from Atletico Madrid on loan.

SunSport claims that while Solskjaer is confident his side has what it takes to challenge for the title, he is wary of the threat posed by Chelsea.

Other clubs that have been touted as favourites to win the league include Man City and Liverpool.

But unlike Chelsea and United, City and Liverpool had a silent transfer window, with Pep's side failing to sign Harry Kane who was top on his transfer wishlist.

Man United climb to third

Earlier, Legit.ng reported Premier League match week three had some interesting results, with Tottenham Hotspur continuing with their fine run after the start of the new season.

Man United's slim 1-0 win away at Wolves fired them to third with seven points, on level with rivals Chelsea and Liverpool - who battled to a 1-1 draw on Saturday, August 27.

Everton are the other side who have bagged seven points under Rafa Benitez, but their relatively inferior goal difference has them sitting sixth behind Liverpool and Chelsea.
