Top Nigerian Commissioner Gives 20th Best Table Tennis Player A Run For His Money as They Battle In Lagos

Lagos state Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso was showing off his table tennis skills with the world's 20th best player Aruna Quadri, Instagram.

Honourable Omotoso posted a rare photo on his social media handle having fun with Nigeria's team captain at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The information administrator was exchanging back-to-back strokes with Quadri who was amazed by the competitiveness of the commissioner.

Quadri unfortunately crashed out of the first round of the men's table tennis event at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The 33-year-old lost to Brazilian star Gustavo which was disappointing by his standards.

Quadri made it through to the quarter-finals of the 2016 Olympics at Rio defeating top seeds before reaching the last eight.

However, he apologized for his ouster at the Games as the country expected him to make history.

He was quoted by The Guardian:

“Without doubt, Sports Minister Dare has done a lot to change sports and athletes welfare in his short time.
"His adopt an athlete initiative has impacted so much on many athletes. I feel disappointed I could not get a medal to say thank you,” Quadri said at the Games Village mix zone in Tokyo."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Blessing Oborududu who won silver for Nigeria at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo has been rewarded with the sum of N4 million by the Bayelsa state Governor Douye Diri who was impressed with her performance in Japan.

The 32-year-old earlier this month recorded her name in the history book by becoming the first Nigerian to win medal in wrestling at Olympics games which remains an emphatic one for her.

Oborududu achieved the feat after losing 4-1 to USA’s Tamyra Stock-Mensah in the final.

Legit.ng also reported that Ese Brume has dedicated her medal to Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide popularly known as Winners' Chapel, Vanguard, Daily Post.

The Delta state born athlete made the third-best jump in the final round of the women's long jump event as she leapt 6.97meters.

The 25-year-old finished behind United States' Britney Reese who won silver and Germany’s Malaika Mihambo who took home gold.
