The 23-year old centre back, according to the Arsenal website, has signed a five year deal with the club.

A deal in principle was initially agreed on last month and was set to be finalised when the defender, White, came back from holiday.

White, who was a late call to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros, will have the option to extend the deal by one year and will be handed the number 4 jersey.

“He has benefitted well from two very good coaching set-ups and has shown with both Brighton and on loan with Leeds what a strong talent he is,” Mikel Arteta said on White’s signature as per the Arsenal website.

The defender is set to integrate into the team almost immediately, and could possibly feature in the Mind Series friendly match at home to Chelsea on Sunday.

He is Arsenal’s third signing of the summer after left-back Nuno Tavares joined from Benfica and Albert Sambi Lokonga arrived from Belgian outfit Anderlecht.

Ben White's background

White only made his Premier League debut last year but prior to that, he had successful loan spells at Leeds where he formed part of the Rams’s championship-winning side in 2019/2020.

His impressive season led to Brighton swapping him up on a four-year contract and he formed an integral part of the Seagulls defence last season.

In his earlier days, he also had loan spells with Newport County and Peterborough United.

Aston Villa, Grealish situation

In other transfer news, Aston Villa are gearing up to offer Jack Grealish a massive new deal in a last-ditch attempt to fend him off from Manchester City.

Villa owners co-owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are unlikely to budge on their valuation of the star, which is currently set at £100million.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Arsene Wenger may quit his role as FIFA's chief of global football development to take up the Switzerland head coach job.

The 71-year-old has not managed any team since he parted ways with Premier League side Arsenal in May 2018.
