Nigeria's Super Eagles suffered their first defeat in 2021 after losing 1-0 to Cameroon in an international friendly game that took place in Austria.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa scored the only goal of the game after launching a thunderous shot from long range which found its way into Maduka Okoye's net.

The goal came barely eight minutes before halftime and every effort from both sides especially the three-time African champions in finding a goal failed to materialise.

Both coaches introduced several players in a bid to swing the tactics to their sides none was effective enough to cause a change.

The Indomitable Lions have now avenged their 3-2 defeat during the 2019 AFCON championship in Egypt about two years ago.

Anguissa's lone goal handed Cameroon a bragging right over Nigeria after their international friendly ended 1-0 in far away Austria.

The Super Eagles made several attempts but Omossola was superb enough to stop every threat that came near his goal post.

Cameroon has injected two new players into the game in a bid to bring a new dimension into the game. Meanwhile, Paul Onuachu and Kelechi Iheanacho have also been removed by Gernot Rohr with Terem Moffi and Ahmed Musa taking their places for the remainder of the game.

Kelechi Iheanacho failed to make very good use of the opportunity he had in the danger zone after shooting wide from close range despite a superb build-up to that moment which involved Iwobi in the midfield.

Wilfred Ndidi attempted to shoot Nigeria back into the back but his effort from about 30 yards out was too weak to penetrate into the goalkeeper's post.

Cameroon started something beautiful after three of their players played some form of tiki-taka in the midfield but their final ball was wasted as none of their players could pin the ball down toward's Nigeria's danger zone

Kelechi Iheanacho's effort to find a replacement was quickly intercepted just at the edge of the box after trying to dribble his way into the opponent's danger zone and the Indomitable Lions again turned their defence into an attacking move but the linesman stopped their last man for being in an offside position.

A Superb goal for Cameroon in the 37th minute through Anguissa who released a low but powerful shot from about 25 yards out and Maduka Okoye couldn't stop it.

The goal came barely 60 seconds after the Super Eagles' attempt at goal which was stopped by the Cameroonian keeper.

Moses Simon was set up brilliantly by Alex Iwobi who had driven the ball from the right flank into the middle of the pitch before releasing the ball to the Nantes winger who then cuts in before aiming for goal but the goalkeeper was able to send the ball out of play.

Samuel Gouet is the first player to be booked in this game after his rough tackle on Nigeria's Kelechi Iheanacho in the Super Eagles half. The Leicester City man was on the pitch for some seconds before getting up eventually.

Kelechi Iheanacho seems to be doing a good job even when the ball is off him as he joins the defending and he won a ball that earned Nigeria s corner kick from the right flank but they could not convert the opportunity into a goal.

Cameroon are trying to build their attack from the back after trying too many long balls into Nigeria's 18-yard box but their efforts are being met with resistance from Super Eagles midfielders who in turn tried turning their attack into a counter attacking move.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi are trying to create something with their 1-2 ball but their effort was intercepted by Cameroon star as they tried making an attempt to attack their guests.

Watford centre-back Willian Troost-Ekong was in the right place to stop Cameroon's attack after heading the cross out of play and his men were able to contain the corner kick eventually

Moses Simon seems a little busy on the left flank after making a run with the ball down the lane but his effort to deliver the ball into the 18-yard was denied and he was able to win a corner kick eventually but that chance was also wasted by the Eagles who are still finding their feet in this game.
