Super Eagles Stars Land in Austria Camp for Final Preparation Ahead of Cameroon Showdown

- Nigeria vs Cameroon is billed to hold at the Stadion Weiner Neustadt, Austria on Friday, June 4 with the second match on June 8

- According to the NFF, the matches are organised in preparation for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers which begins in June

- While about 11 Nigerian players have opted out of the fixtures, no fewer than 18 players have already hit camp in Austria

Ahead of the double-header friendly encounter between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, 18 invited players have arrived camp in Austria.

No fewer than 18 out of the invited Nigerian stars hit camp on Tuesday, June 1 as they arrived the Hilton Garden Inn, Wiener Neustadt Osterreich Austria in Vienna.

Nigeria vs Cameroon will hold at the Stadion Weiner Neustadt, Austria on Friday, June 4 while the second game will be played on June 8.

There were earlier concerns after 11 Super Eagles players withdrew from the clash due to varying medical reasons, however the game is expected to hold.

William Troost-Ekong and Leicester City duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are among players who are already in camp. Oghenekaro Etebo and Alex Iwobi have also arrived.

Others are goalkeepers Maduka Okoye, Francis Uzoho and John Noble, as well as Shehu Abdullahi, Chidozie Awaziem, Jamilu Collins, Valentine Ozonwafor, Anayo Iwuala, Abraham Marcus, Moses Simon, Terem Moffi, Peter Olayinka and Samson Tijani who all complete the 18 players in camp.

Team captain and Kano Pillars forward Ahmed Musa as well as Simy Nwankwo and Paul Onuachu are expected to hit the camp before the first match.

The Nigeria Football federation disclosed that the matches are arranged as Nigeria prepare for the World Cup qualifiers scheduled to begin in August.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Kano Pillars have now gone nine games unbeaten since Ahmed Musa arrived, which is a huge feat in the topflight.

There are eight other players competing for the award which includes Man United pair of Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani, Mohamed Salah, James Maddison, Erik Lamela, Manuel Lazini, Jesse Lingard and Sebastien Haller.
