The Belgium national football team manager and former Chelsea coach, Roberto Martinez has blasted Antonio Rudiger for colliding with Kevin de Bruyne in the Champions League final.

Martinez unleashed his anger on the defender branding him as ‘reckless’, saying the player was lucky not to have received a red card during the encounter.

The Chelsea centre-back collided with the Belgium playmaker as the Blues won the tie 1-0 to emerge winners of the coveted Champions League for a second time.

Rudiger was impressive in the encounter making deft tackles helping Thomas Tuchel’s side to keep yet another clean sheet in 90 minutes.

The Manchester City player was substituted after fracturing a bone in his nose and eye socket, and he is an important part of the Belgium squad as they set for the European championships.

The Belgium manager Martinez said via Daily Mail:

"For me, Rudiger is very, very fortunate. When you look at the replay, there's no clash of heads.
"He's properly leaving the shoulder against Kevin. He seems concussed and we will see the state of that. But that leaves a sour taste, because Rudiger's holding his head, it's almost that he wants to show that he's hiding something.
"For me, it was excessive force and it was reckless. And it should have been a red card. Kevin is not a player that goes down for no reason. You can see the pain and it's a swollen eye."

Meanwhile, La Liga giants Barcelona have confirmed the sensational signing of Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero.

Barcelona made the announcement on Monday, May 31, only days after Aguero's City lost the Champions League title to rivals Chelsea.

The statement on the club's website revealed that they reached an agreement for the player to join them from July 1 when his contract with Manchester City officially expires.

Aguero will sign a contract with Barcelona until the end of the 2022/23 season and his buy out clause is set at 100 million euros.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Thomas Tuchel has reportedly drawn up a three-man shortlist of players he wants Chelsea to sign ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tuchel is expected to make a number of signings as he looks to challenge for more titles next season.

This window will be the German's first since taking over from Frank Lampard at the end of January 2021.
