Tuchel had an impressive spell in the just concluded 2020/21 season, leading Chelsea to a top-four finish and the FA Cup final where they lost against Leicester City.

The German went on to crown his incredible success with a Champions League title after managing to steer his side past rivals Man City in the final on Saturday, May 29.

A solitary goal from Kai Havertz in the first half of the hotly contested clash was the difference as the Blues stormed to victory in Porto.

Metro UK reports Tuchel held a successful meeting with Abramovich on Sunday morning, May 30, during which the Russian oligarch agreed to hand the manager a new deal.

The 47-year-old is understood to have penned an 18-month contract when he arrived towards the end of January to succeed Frank Lampard who had been axed at the time.

However, The Times now claims the deal is set to be extended and Tuchel's salary improved after the triumph over Man City.

The development came just a day after Tuchel confirmed he had promised to extend his current contract.

It is further believed Abramovich gave the former Paris Saint-Germain boss further assurances over availing funds to spend in the transfer market this summer.

Tuchel did not have time to make any signings in January as the window had closed when he arrived.

But he could now be afforded the latitude to add his own players to the squad, a scenario that could force him to also ship out a number of players currently at his disposal.

It is understood the tactician is keen to add a new centre-back, midfielder, and a proven goalscorer.

Talks between him and Chelsea's director Marina Granovskaia are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Man City's loss Chelsea has left a Nigerian man in tatters after placing his house worth N4.5million on Pep Guardiola's men to defeat Chelsea, Instagram.

Unfortunately, the Citizens suffered a 1-0 loss to the Blues courtesy of a goal scored by Kai Havertz two minutes before half time.

While Pep and his men were in a sad state, a Nigerian man who used a house to place a bet on the Premier league champions was even in a more sorrowful mood.
