Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola took a swipe at Premier League rivals Manchester United, saying their Champions League glory was down to John Terry’s slip.

The manager made this comments shortly after guiding the Citizens to their first ever Champions League final on Tuesday night, May 4.

Manchester City reached their first-ever Champions League final following their 4-1 aggregate win over Paris Saint Germain in their semifinal fixtures.

The Premier League side kicked off the round with a 2-1 win in France with Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez helping their team to come back from a goal down in the early minutes of the game.

And they finished what they started at the Etihad Stadium with another outstanding performance that saw them claim a 2-0 win courtesy of Riyad Mahrez after the regulation period.

City who looked to be crowned the Premier League champions for the season are now aiming for a treble of trophies having won the Carabao Cup earlier.

He told BT Sport via Mirror:

"Getting to the final now makes sense of what we have done in the past four or five years.
"United won a title because of John Terry's slip and in the last minute against Bayern Munich and Real won a title against Atletico in the 93rd minute. It’s a competition that is so difficult and something in the stars is involved in that."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has been ruled out of side's Champions League meeting with Chelsea through injury.

Real are due to take on the Blues for the return leg of the semi-final fixture on the night of Wednesday, May 5, at Stamford Bridge.

Both teams will be desperate to get the job done during the meeting having settled for a 1-1 draw during the reverse clash played at Angelo Di Stefano Stadium in Spain.

Real will now have to contend with the absence of Varane during their London trip, with the versatile defender understood to be battling an adductor injury.
