Former England international Alan Shearer has showered praises on former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha saying the Nigerian was naturally gifted.

The former Newcastle United goal poacher listed Okocha in his top 10 Premier League cult heroes which include Manchester United legends Eric Cantona and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As part of the Match of the Day podcast alongside Gary Lineker and former Manchester City defender Micah Richards, Shearer admitted that he tried to imitate the former Bolton Wanderers' captain.

According to him, Okocha made difficult things seem easy, admitting that the African superstar was superb during his playing days.

Shearer said:

“He made the difficult things look easy – I must’ve tried that flicking over heads a million times and it’s never come off once. Gifted, natural ability, superb player.”

Among other stars who made Shearer’s Premier League cult heroes list include Paul Gascoigne, Mario Balotelli, Ole Gunner Solskjaer and Eric Cantona.

Others are Paulo Di Canio, David Ginola, Faustino Asprilla amongst others.

Okocha became a household name in the Premier League after joining Bolton in 2002.

Meanwhile, a photo of Super Eagles legends Kanu Nwankwo and Taribo West is currently making the rounds on the internet showing the duo together after they played for Italian giants Inter Milan during their days.

In 1996, African footballer of the year Kanu Nwankwo joined Inter from Ajax Amsterdam for around $4.7 million.

This was right after he captained the Nigeria Dream Team win the Olympics, inspiring his side with a brace in the semifinal against powerhouse Brazil to overturn a 2–3 scoreline into a 4–3 win in extra time.

Also, sensational defender Taribo West was transferred to Italian side Inter on a four-year deal from French side Auxerre.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Vincent Enyeama was asked to select his fantasy 5-a-side team comprising African players that played in the French League.

The former Super Eagles shot-stopper is regarded as one of the best African goalkeepers that played in Ligue 1. The 38-year-old was given the privilege to pick his own team while conducting an interview with Ligue 1's Twitter handle.

Ordinarily one would expect Enyeama to select his former teammates Jay Jay Okocha and John Utaka who had glittering careers in the French topflight division but he did not.
