Chelsea have booked a place in the semi-finals of Champions League despite being stunned 1-0 vs FC Porto in the second leg of their quarter-final fixture.

The Blues' 2-0 advantage secured in the first leg of the tie earlier last week was enough to sail through to the last four on goal difference.

Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell got the job done during the reverse tie played at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in Seville at the time.

Thomas Tuchel's men, therefore, carried a two-goal cushion into the second leg staged at the same venue and knew too well a draw of whichever scoreline would see them through to the semis.

Chelsea headed into the encounter off a 4-1 comfortable win picked at the weekend in the Premier League, with Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Kurt Zouma all scoring.

However, their Spain trip saw them fire blanks, with both teams staging a scrappy first half.

Jesus Corona had two of the best chances to score in the half but squandered both - including one he snatched at a presentable opportunity after good work by Chancel Mbemba, only to send the ball sailing over the bar.

Pulisic also had a chance to break the deadlock moments after the break but failed to react quick enough to steer a high-velocity Ben Chilwell pull-back.

Chelsea's laxity was eventually punished at the death as Taremi scored with an astonishing overhead kick to secure a win for Porto.

However, it was not enough to save from crashing out of the competition as the hosts qualified at their expense.

The Stamford Bridge dwellers are now scheduled to take on the winner between Real Madrid and Liverpool who will square off in the other quarter-final.

Real already have a 3-1 advantage over the Reds ahead of their trip to Anfield on Wednesday, April 14, for the second leg.
