Apollo Crews whose real names are Sesugh Uhaa became the new Intercontinental champion after winning the Nigerian Drum Fight against the champion Big E at Wrestlemania 37, WWE.
The Nigerian WWE superstar who hails from Benue state emerged victorious in the non-disqualification match.
Apollo who promoted his ancestral home in the middle belt area of Nigeria in the build up to the fight on SmackDown and Fast Lane, needed the help of an invader to emerge victorious.
Nigerian-born American wrestler Apollo Crews celebrated online as he becomes intercontinental champion
An unknown giant appeared from nowhere as gave Big E who was on the verge of pining Apollo with a vicious choke slam.
The six-foot-plus sized man dragged Apollo who wore a green and white gear on top of Big E as the referee made the 1-2-3 count to crown the new Intercontinental champion.
The former United States champion made a dream appearance on his Wrestlemania debut and takes his rivalry with the Florida-born Big E to another level.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that a Nigerian-born American professional wrestler, Sesugh Uhaa, has been celebrated on social media by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).
The wrestler recently made Nigeria proud by defeating Ettore “Big E” Ewen to become the new intercontinental champion.
In a viral video, Sesugh who is popularly called Apollo Crew promised to defeat his opponent and he did just that.
Celebrating Apollo Crew on Twitter, NIDCOM wrote:
"Nigerian Born American professional wrestler, Sesugh Uhaa @WWEApollo promised to make Nigeria proud and he just did that by defeating @WWEBigE to become the NEW #ICChampion! #AndNew #WrestleMania Champion.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that Nigerian born America wrestler Sesugh Uhaa popularly known as Apollo Crews has clinched the United States Championship on Monday Night Raw.
The 32-year-old heavily built fighter dethroned former champion Andrade to win his first-ever title in the WWE rings.
Crews gained momentum in the fight after showing off a few skills including a moonsault and a standing shooting star press for the victory.
