Fresh reports from Spain have it that Catalan club Barcelona are desperate in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland as soon as the summer transfer window opens.
It was gathered that the Spanish giants have prioritised signing the Norwegian over ensuring club captain Lionel Messi signs a new contract.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has been heavily linked with a move away from the club amid interests from Ligue 1 side PSG as well as Premier League club Manchester United.
Spanish outlet OK Diario via Soccer Laduma are claiming that one of the new Barca president Joan Laporta's list of priorities is landing Haaland.
The striker’s agent and father are believed to be in negotiations with the club as they visited the team’s training ground for discussion last week.
Haaland is already widely considered among the best strikers in world football, having scored more than 100 goals for club and country since bursting on to the scene just a few years ago.
Real Madrid, however, are also linked with the 20-year-old, although it is Manchester City many believe are favourites to sign him, especially with his dad Alf-Inge having played for the Citizens.
Meanwhile, Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is getting ready to offload nine players when the summer transfer window opens.
The Dutchman was named the Catalans boss last August and he immediately got rid of Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Nelson Semedo, and one other star he considered surplus to requirement.
Sources claim the 58-year-old is still not satisfied with his current and will further trim down to give space for new additions at the end of this season.
