- An expectant Nigerian mother, Aminat Idrees, has wowed people at the National Sports Festival in Edo
- Despite being eight months pregnant, the woman won gold in the Poomsae category as all her compositions got praises from spectators
- While her video got the admiration of many on Twitter, there were others who said such activity is strenuous for her state
A heavily pregnant Nigerian woman, Aminat Idrees, amazed many as she clinched a gold medal in taekwondo contest at the ongoing National Sports Festival 2020.
It should, however, be noted that the woman participated in the mixed Poomsae category. According to the British Taekwondo, Poomsae is "a set sequence of movements that consists of the various fundamental stances, blocks, punches and kicks logically arranged in a meaningful order."
The woman won the honour for Lagos state. In a video shared on Twitter, Aminat could be seen demonstrating different compositions in the fight game.
The performance was carried out in collaboration with a male counterpart identified as Arowora Roqeeb.
Aminat also went home with silver and bronze medals in the female category and as an individual participant respectively.

Legit.ng compiled some of the reactions to her gameshow below:
"It's quite risky but anyways I say congrats."
"The people who allowed her to participate are ritualist. This is nonsense."
"Please note: She didn't fight."
"Can we please educate ourselves. Pregnancy is not a disease neither does it make a woman invalid. She would have trained severally and her doctors would have cleared her for the tournament."
"Hmmm, despite being a non contact version of the martial arts sport, this doesn't look right...at 8 months. Nah."

In the clip, the woman handled the bat as a professional as she served the ball at a great speed.
Despite the woman wearing a loose-fitting Ankara gown and without footwear, her opponent struggled hard to return her service.
